The parable of the Prince and Slave

There was a certain prince from a very powerful Kingdom that journeyed far into other kingdoms in search of a bride. Try as he might, he found no woman that pleased him.

He came up with a clever and novel plan,  he pulled off his royal apparel and wore a  commoner’s clothing. He revisited some of the kingdoms he had been to and discovered that people treated him differently, those that danced at his coming did not even recognize him, he saw the world in a whole new light.

One day while sitting close to a well,  the young prince was suddenly captivated by a young lady. This was a surprise to his servants, they never really saw anything special about this feeble, and gaunt – looking lady with wounded marks all over her body. Perhaps what drew the prince to her was compassion. A heavy weight of chain was worn around her neck as her slave masters dragged her helplessly on the ground. The prince just could not  bear to watch this inhumane and savagery  scene, he jumped up and ran towards the slave masters obstructing the whip which was whimsically targeted at the slave’s back, using his hand to hold the whip. The whip bruised his skin as his blood dropped lavishly on the ground. Stop! The young prince screamed.

The slave masters laughed at the prince, how foolish for a commoner to command us they thought. Get away from here, one of the slave masters scoffed at the prince. How much is her worth, the young prince asked. She is worth three chess boxes of pure gold, the slave masters replied and how can someone like you in all of your life time ever come up with such an amount? To their surprise, the young prince signaled his servants to bring five chess boxes of pure gold. The slave masters were dumbfounded, they just could not believe their eyes until the prince revealed his true identity, out of fear for his pierced skin, they pleaded he could take the slave away without any pay, but the prince refused. The slave masters bowed their heads before the prince, took their money and went their way.

The servants released the slave from all her chains , called the royal chariots as she travelled with the prince back to his kingdom. The father was overjoyed that his son has finally found a bride. Her dirty rags were stripped off her and she was clothed with a royal apparel and a diadem placed on her head. But something was wrong, she has been a slave all her life and knows nothing on how to walk in royalty. Her slavery habits always took the best of her. She never saw herself as a queen and this really bothered the prince.  Under the counsel of his father, the young prince gave his bride to a wise and experienced tutor, one that will groom her up in kingdom affairs, and on how to act, walk, eat and speak as a queen. After the space of a year the teacher presented the girl to the prince. She has become fully educated. After a short while the prince got married to the girl and she became the queen of a kingdom.

Jesus has bought you with a price (his blood) which is an overpayment ( remember the prince paid two chess boxes of gold more than what was asked of him) You are no longer a sinner (slave) for the fact that he has bought you into his palace See Heb 12:22-24. You are now seated in the heavenly places with Christ. You may still have some habits that are not in tune with your new royal status, that is why Jesus sent the Holy Spirit (The teacher) to guide you in heavenly royal matters so  that you will be educated in the things of God. It is the Spirit of grace that trains us, see Titus 2:11-13. A lot of people say grace gives Christians license to sin, they do not know the truth. GRACE and TRUTH is the person of the HOLY SPIRIT that is why he is called the Spirit of truth and grace. Moses brought the law, but ……… and ………. Came by JESUS. John said I baptize with water, but he will baptize with the ……  you know the rest.  Notice in the parable that the filthy rags of the girl were stripped from her, this signifies our righteousness. Stop saying you are a sinner (a slave) just because you committed some mistakes, it is bound to happen. What you need is a change of mind that comes from the Holy Spirit. You need to be educated by your teacher on how to live and walk in heavenly royalty. Feed yourself on the Word (The food from the King's table), listen to messages and see yourself becoming the royalty that Jesus sees in you. From SLAVERY to ROYALTY. Praise the PRINCE of PEACE. Hallelujah!!!!
