THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE A VINE
A vine very black in colour sprung forth from the middle of the Earth, it had eyes and a mouth with which it spoke. It boasted of its power and everyone that heard its voice fled, for it was very terrible.
The vine grew higher and larger, and in no time produced creeping branches that extended into the four corners of the Earth. The branches captured men, women and children of different nations of the Earth, twined around them placing twigs within the mouths of its captives.
The whole Earth was filled with this great vine, for there was no space it didn’t fill, and no man could withstand its power. Even the light of the sun was obstructed by the branches of the wicked vine.
Something else wonderful happened, a seed shining as the sun came down from heaven and entered deep into the Earth. The black vine felt threatened by it and extended some branches to kill the seed, but try as they might, they couldn’t come close because the light from the seed burnt and killed the branches of the evil vine that came close.
A shoot came out of the seed, and with it 12 branches and at the apex of those branches were men, each of them had fruits shining as light in their hands. The shoot became so great as it grew higher and larger killing many branches of the evil vine on its path whilst creating sunlight and a beautiful garden in every place or space it covered. The garden around this new shining vine became filled with birds, and creatures of different colours and sizes.
The new vine extended its 12 branches to the people held captive by the evil vine. When they came close to the captives the men at the tip of the 12 branches presented their fruits to the captives.
Those that ate were free and were joined to the new vine becoming branches themselves and men with fruits in their own hands to save others. The new vine extended its branches to the valleys, to the mountains, the sea and the plains and grew wider, longer and larger. But for those that refused to eat the fruits of the new vine, thicker branches from the evil vine grew and pressed them sore.
